Chicken Divan: Meals in Minutes

I am loving these meals in a jar.  If I could convert every meal to a jar...it would make life so much easier!!  This idea of; just boil water and pour in all the ingredient is awesome and such a time saver.  Chicken Divan, even as a kid, has been one of my favorite recipes.  Now that I can put it together in about 2 minutes...even better. So this is my moms recipe Thriv-alized!

Chicken Divan in a Jar:

1 1/2 C White Rice
6 Tbls Powdered Milk
1/2 C Cheese Blend
1 tsp Thrive Lemonade powder
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
1 tsp Italian Seasoning
2 tsp Chicken Bullion
1 tsp Curry powder
1 C FD Broccoli
1 C FD Chicken

To make jar: Add rice, then all the powdered ingredients and shake them down to the bottom, then add the broccoli and chicken to the top of your jar!

To make meal: Pour contents of jar in a 9x13 pan.  Whisk in 4 1/2 cup HOT water and 1/2 cup Mayo. Stir really well making sure all the powder is dissolved and mayo is mixed through out. Cover really tight with foil or I just throw my Silpat over top (saves me foil) and bake for 30-35 mins, until rice is soft.

Top with grated cheese (optional) and enjoy!!

Fajita Casserole

So far this has been my families favorite meal in a jar! This was a recipe I found from Chef Tess, I had to convert it a little because works for a different company but it was easy to convert to Thrive and it tasted amazing! This kind of reminds me of the burrito bowls at Chipotle!

Fajita Casserole
(Layer in this order & shake between each layer or it WILL NOT FIT!)

1 Cup Thrive Instant Beans
1 C. Rice
1 C Thrive Instant Beans
1/2 Cheese Powder
1/2 C. Dehydrated onions
1/2 C. Mised Bell Pepers
1/4 C. Tomato powder
1 Tbpm Chef's Choice
1/2 tsp. Cumin
1/2 tsp. Oregano
1 Tsp. Minced Garlic
1 Bay leaf

Cooking Instructions: Place contents of jar in a 9 X 13 casserole dish and add 6 cups of very hot water. Place is 350 over for 30-35 mins.

We top ours with avocados, cheese and sour cream! Also you can use any kind of beans your family likes.  I did some half red and pinto beans. Some half pinto and black beans...I think it tastes good with all of them so whatever your family likes go with that!

Meals in Minutes: Event One

Our first Meals in a Jar event went well!! Here are the links to all the recipes we did...

I love a good Classic Chicken Noodle Recipe (far left jar).  And this one was good but it need just a tad more broth! So instead of 3 cups, we said to add 6 cups water and and 2 Tablespoons chicken bouillon.

I really liked this Beef Stew recipe (pictured center) but it was a little to running for my taste buds when it comes to stew! So we added 4 Tablespoons of cornstarch instead of her 2 teaspoons. Oh and Tomato Dices wouldn't fit! It was full to the brim and my family doesn't like tomatoes anyway...so we left them out!

The ever so impressive and delicious Lasagna Soup recipe (Far right jar) was done by an amazing consultant Heather Lorimer and author of Cooking With my Food Storage. Check out her blog for lots of good recipes!

Testimonial: The other night I fell asleep on the couch, woke up at 4:30 and had to have dinner made, fed and cleaned up by 6:00 because we were having company over for dessert!! Did I panic...? No. Did I run for fast food...? No, I just brought my 8 cups water to a boil and then whisked in my beef stew jar! While it simmered I set the table and it was on the table 15 mins later! No washing veggies, no chopping, no defrosting, no peeling, nothing but dump and serve! AND I had ONE pan to wash...amazing!!
